Right.
That's what every marketer I sign up with says on their sign up form. You know, down at the bottom in small print.
I have signed up lately at a few different places for different types of information. And now all of a sudden I'm getting a lot of email from places I've never heard of and wondering why.
When I scroll to the bottom of the email there's a disclaimer that they are Can-Spam compliant because I signed up with one of their 'marketing affiliates'.
OK, now all the marketers I signed up with said they respected my privacy and would 'never' sell or rent my contact information.
So, who's really telling the truth and who's basically outright lying?
How about marketers that don't let you off their list? I unfortunatly happen to be on one of the big "JV" guru's list and he doesn't provide any of the Can-Spam info that is and has been required since I believe 2003. Oh he gives a remove link in every email but it's always just for that particular email and it's things I've never ask about. There is no way to get off his 'master' list and no way to contact him either.
I guess that's how he makes so much money, he has a captive audience.
What would really be nice is if everyone played by the same rules and acted like adults. Online marketing could actually be taken seriuosly by all the people who have been either a victum of really shoddy marketing and or had their email addresses plowed under with a landslide of SPAM.
Well, that's enough for today, any comments?
